A quality set of headphones is an essential purchase if you are really serious about taking your ear training to another level. The headphones that come with your mobile phone will just not do.

I tried out a lot of headphones before settling on my Bose QC-20 in-ear noise-cancelling headphones. They were not cheap at $320 AUD but well worth the money.

They really block outside distractions so you can focus in on those harmoci intervals. I didnt realise how effective these headphones were until I was recently flying interstate for work. I couldnt believe the engine drone was so loud. I had been spoilt travelling during the year with my Bose that I had completely forgotten how annoying that drone actually is.

I should also point out that I came across a nice pair of Sony over the ear headphones and Senheisser in ear headphone for $60AUD and $80AUD respectively. Whilst they werent noise cancelling headphones they were still pretty good and a lot better than many of the headphone 2-3 times more expensive.
